Asian Tour will return to Europe next August

on

The month of August will mark a very significant step in world professional golf.

From the 17th to the 20th of the month, Close House Golf Club in Heddon-on-the-wall, Northumberland will host a leg of the Asian Tour.

Moreover, not just any stage, an International Series tournament.

Asian Tour, schedule

The British stage is the first change compared to the initial calendar of the Series, and I think it’s not a random choice.

The Close House Golf Club has hosted, among other things, two editions (in 2017 and 2020) of the British Masters, a DP World Tour tournament born in 2015. from the ashes of the Dunlop Tournament.

The Asian Tour confirms its interest in Europe, returning to the same region of Great Britain (last year it was the Slaley Hall Hotel, SPA & Golf Resort that hosted the Tour event).

Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner and CEO of the Asian Tour, said:

“The Asian Tour are thrilled to return to Newcastle for the International Series England”

“We had the pleasure of playing a very successful tournament here last June, which marked the first step of the Tour into the UK.”

For his part, the managing director of Close House, Jonathan Lupton, instead declared:

“Welcoming Northumberland back to the International Series for the second year running is an exciting development”

“Having had the pleasure of attending the International Series Oman last February, I was able to appreciate the growth of the tournament compared to last year”

“We look forward to working hand-in-hand with the Asian Tour to deliver a memorable event in Britain.”

At the same time as the International Series England, a DP World Tour round, the ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by AVIV Clinics, will take place at Galgorm Castle Golf Club, Northern Ireland.

The total prize pool for the European Tour tournament will be $1,500.00, while the International Series will be $2,000,000.

It will be interesting to see which pros take to the field where, but I guess one of them will definitely choose the Asian Tour tournament.
