Aryna Sabalenka addresses groin injury ahead of Barbora Krejcikova Miami match

on

Aryna Sabalenka says her groin injury is kept under control and she is positive that it won’t be causing her any problems in the remainder of her Miami Open campaign.

On Sunday, Sabalenka ousted Marie Bouzkova 6-1 6-2 to set up a Miami round-of-16 meeting against Barbora Krejcikova.

“We are working on that. I would say I have the best team and I really trust them and believe that they can fix it. It definitely felt much better. I have a few exercises that I have to do during the match to control this muscle, but my team did everything so that I don’t focus on my leg and I focus on my game,” Sabalenka said, per Tennis365.

Sabalenka not taking Krejcikova for granted

Sabalenka has had a strong start to 2023 but 2021 French Open champion Krejcikova has also done extremely well at the start of this season.

“I think if you give her some time she can put the ball wherever she wants to. It’s tough. So you have to put a lot of pressure on her. You have to be really aggressive on court and not give her too much time and make her really work for it. She’s a great player and it’s always tough battles against her,” Sabalenka said.

The Sabalenka and Krejcikova match is set to highlight the round-of-16 action in Miami.

When Sabalenka and Krejcikova meet in Miami, it will be their third meeting of the season.

En route to winning a WTA 1000 event in Dubai, Krejcikova defeated Sabalenka.

Earlier this month in Indian Wells, Sabalenka got her revenge as she managed to beat Krejcikova in three sets.

Overall, the head-to-head stands on Sabalenka’s side, who has three wins and one loss against Krejcikova.

Krejcikova is seemingly starting to rediscover her old form and it certainly won’t be easy for Sabalenka to beat the Czech in Miami.
