AEW FYTER FEST Results (7/8): Night 2 From Jacksonville, FL.

on

All Elite Wrestling returns this evening with “Night 2” of their two-week extravaganza — AEW FYTER FEST — from Daily’s Place amphitheater in Jacksonville, Florida.

AEW Dynamite this week features a stacked lineup as the promotion presents their FYTER FEST Night 2 special, which includes the Chris Jericho vs. Orange Cassidy main event, as well as additional championship action.

Featured below are AEW FYTER FEST Night 2 results from Wednesday, July 8, 2020.

AEW FYTER FEST (Night 2) RESULTS (7/8/2020)

Night two of the two-week AEW FYTER FEST extravaganza kicks off with a video package flashing graphics for each match scheduled on the night two card.

From there we head inside Daily’s Place for FYTER FEST Night 2, where Jim Ross welcomes us to the show as we see pyro and fireworks exploding throughout the amphitheater.

AEW World Tag-Team Championships
Private Party vs. “Hangman” Adam Page & Kenny Omega

Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy come out accompanied by Matt Hardy, who gives them a quick pep-talk at the top of the entrance way before they make their way down. As Private Party then head to the ring while highlights are shown of them earning this title shot with a big win on last week’s show.

From there, the theme music of “Hangman” Adam Page plays as the vest-wearing country boy comes out, complete with the pyro treatment. Highlights are shown of Page and Kenny Omega’s successful title defense on last week’s show as Page heads to the ring by himself. As the highlights wrap-up, we see him in Private Party’s face.

Kenny Omega’s theme plays as he then makes his way out with the super pyro treatment, bells and whistles for The Elite member. He joins Page in the ring as the announcers put them over ahead of this title contest.

Quen and Omega kick things off for their respective teams as the bell sounds to kick off tonight’s opening contest. Omega and Quen are pretty evenly matched for a few moments and then Quen drop toe-holds Omega down to the mat. He goes for a standing moonsault but lands on the knees of Omega.

Omega quickly takes over from there and dominates Quen. He eventually knocks Kassidy out on the floor and he and Page hit a double-team move. Page tags in and gets in some offense and then Omega tags back in and they do the same again. Kassidy finally gets involved and a big Silly-String double-team spot gets Private Party in the offensive lead for the first time in the bout.

Some of the action spills over the barricade and into the first row. Kassidy hits a crazy springboard cannonball into a pile of wrestlers over the barricade in the front row. Replays of this spot are shown as we hear “AEW! AEW!” chants. Omega gets knees up when Private Party attempts a top-rope follow-up spot in the ring.

We get a bunch of high spots from Private Party, including a super-close Shooting Star Press near fall on Page that Omega just breaks up in time. We see a bunch of replays of that spot. Private Party looks for Gin-N-Juice but Omega hits a V-Trigger and Page follows up with a big power bomb off the top. They follow up with the Last Call and Page scores the cover and the champs retain.

Winners and STILL AEW World Tag-Team Champions: Kenny Omega & “Hangman” Adam Page

On Tap For Night 2 …

After the match we shoot to an on-camera look at the announce trio of Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and The Excalibur, who proceed to run down each match scheduled for tonight’s AEW FYTER FEST Night 2 special event. From there, we head to a commercial break.

Lance Archer vs. Joey Janela

Up next in the ring here at AEW FYTER FEST night two will be a one-on-one showdown pitting “The Murderhawk Monster” Lance Archer against “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela.

On that note, we hear the theme music and cool titan tron video and special ring lighting of “The Bad Boy” himself, Joey Janela, as he makes his way down to the squared circle for tonight’s second bout.

From there, the music of “The Murderhawk Monster” plays, fireworks explode and out comes Lance Archer with Sonny Kiss, Janela’s partner, draped over his shoulders. He throws Kiss in the ring at Janela as we see Jake “The Snake” Roberts settle in at ringside.

Archer immediately goes to work on Janela, as the action spills out to the floor and “The Murderhawk Monster” floors Janela with a brutal knife-edge chop. He rolls him back in the ring but before he can re-join him, Janela knocks him off the apron. He then goes to the top and hits a diving back-elbow on Archer on the floor.

He goes under the ring and pulls out a table as highlights of his top-rope spot are shown. He sets up the table as he blasts sledgehammer shots on the back of Archer. Now he grabs a chair and heads to the top rope. Referee Paul Turner grabs the chair and struggles to pull it out of Janela’s hands. As he does, Archer has recovered and he blasts Janela off the top rope into the ring from the apron.

Archer then goes to work on Janela. He knocks him down to the mat with authority before blasting him in the back of the neck with a clubbing blow. We see Jake Roberts with a big canvas bag, presumably containing a large reptile, is shown moving around in the background as “The Murderhawk Monster” continues his assault on “The Bad Boy.”

Lance shouts some trash talk at Sonny Kiss, who is back on his feet at ringside, as a massive bear claw drops Janela. Archer continues to go to work on Janela as J.R. leads us into a mid-match commercial break. When we return from the break we see highlights of some damage done on the floor that saw human bodies slammed through the ring barricade courtesy of Archer, as Sonny Kiss and Janela got too close for comfort to “The Murderhawk” in a murderous situation.

Back in the ring, Janela is actually slowly starting to fire up for an attempted comeback. Janela counters a big finisher-attempted by Archer and now both guys are down as we see Jake Roberts losing his cool on the floor. Janela tries firing up again and ends up flooring Archer after a super kick and running knee-strike. Roberts hops on the apron. Janela hits a flying elbow splash. Kiss follows up with a 450-splash off the top. The ref turns around right into a pin attempt from Janela after a snake distraction from Jake goes wrong. 1-2..no! Archer still kicks out.

As Janela fires up for the fans and heads to the top-rope, Archer finally recovers and cuts him off. He hits his Blackout finisher on Janela off the top-rope through the table that was set up on the floor and forgotten about earlier in the match. Archer rolls Janela into the ring and covers him. 1-2-3. Archer wins as the camera closes in on a big ear-to-ear smile from Jake “The Snake” Roberts as Archer celebrates his victory with a big pose in the ring while his theme plays.

Winner: Lance Archer

Another Unique Video From Darby Allin

A black-and-white video from Darby Allin plays. Allin addresses the camera directly. He talks about Brian Cage being responsible for him being out of action. He talks about preparing for Coffin Drops. He then does an enormous one as we watch on.

Taz’s Major Announcement

Now we head to Tony Schiavone in the ring who introduces Taz and Brian Cage as it is now time for Taz’s major announcement, which Tony Khan guaranteed leading into tonight’s show would “send shockwaves throughout the pro wrestling industry.”

Taz comes to the ring as fire and pyro explodes, with a shirtless Cage accompanying him. Taz enters the ring with his trademark orange towel over his shoulder, but he’s also holding something in his hands that is covered up. Schiavone asks what it is right off the bat.

Taz then goes to talk about how next week at AEW Fight For The Fallen, Brian Cage vs. Jon Moxley is scheduled to take place with Moxley putting his AEW World Championship on-the-line against Cage. Taz says that brings him to his point.

He goes on to address what is in his hands. He uncovers what is in his hands and that is this — the FTW Championship.

Taz says no promotion has ever officially recognized this title but the fans have, and they recognize it as the symbol of the baddest son of a bitch in the business. He says his man, Brian Cage, will be awarded this now and will head into AEW Fight For The Fallen as the new FTW Championship.

Taz calls this move “some renegade sh*t.” He then asks, “Who better than The Machine?” to conclude his promo while addressing Jon Moxley directly into the camera with his final words before the AEW Fight For The Fallen main event. After this, we head to a commercial break.

FTR & The Young Bucks vs. The Lucha Bros, The Butcher & The Blade

Now it’s time to head to the ring for our third match of FYTER FEST night two, as we hear the familiar tune of The Lucha Bros, as Rey Fenix and Pentagon JR. begin to make their way down to the ring for what should be an excellent eight-man tag-team contest.

The duo of The Butcher and The Blade make their way out next to join The Lucha Bros in the squared circle. As their music fades down, we hear the theme of their opposition play, as the teams of The Young Bucks and FTR now make their way out.

The bell sounds and here we go as the match gets underway with great action right off the bat. Things get fully underway now and we head to a mid-match commercial break. We’re back now and the action is still in full-force as the heel foursome of The Lucha Bros and The Butcher & The Blade appear to be in clear control of things.

Things culminate with The Lucha Bros hitting their double-team finisher to score the pin fall victory after an accidental super kick by The Young Bucks led to the loss. After the match, the heel group celebrate as they exit the ring.

Right before we head to a post-match commercial break, we see a quick glimpse of FTR and The Young Bucks shaking hands in the ring, seemingly okay and not teasing any issues despite the outcome. Great match, for those keeping score, by the way.

Winners: The Lucha Bros, The Butcher & The Blade

Big Swole Denied Entry, Served Legal Papers

We return from the break to a member of the broadcast team waiting by as Big Swole approaches.

Big Swole is greeted by the broadcast member telling her she has been banned from entering the venue, and is also served legal papers from a process-server on-hand on behalf of Dr. Britt Baker. Swole complains about making a long drive for nothing before vowing revenge on Baker.

Nyla Rose vs. Kenzie Page & Kylan King

From there, we return inside the Daily’s Place amphitheater in Jacksonville, Florida where some ladies who were allowed access to the venue tonight are about to be in action as a two-on-one women’s handicap match is up next.

Kylan King and Kenzie Page are the two ladies who have the unfortunate task of facing Rose, who continues her onslaught since losing her AEW Women’s World Championship to Hikaru Shida a few months ago.

The bell sounds and here we go, as Rose immediately jumps off to a dominant early run. She is taking out Page with punishing offense, rag-dolling the little-known opposition with ease. She finally tags in her partner, who is hesitant to enter the ring.

She finally does and the punishment continues for the duo, as this showcase squash match performance by the former champ continues. She hits a big spear and then finishes things up with her Nyla Bomb for the pin fall victory.

Winner: Nyla Rose

Nyla Rose Vows To Reveal New Manager Soon

After the match, we see Penelope Ford and current AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida shown at ringside in close-up on-camera shots as Nyla Rose grabs a microphone.

She talks about noticing a trend that everyone with a manager around AEW seems to end up with gold. She even jokes that Brian Cage shows up and gets managed by Taz and they just give him a title.

Rose promises that she will soon reveal who her new manager will be, but refuses to do so now. She heads out leaving everyone scratching their heads guessing who it could be, including the announcers.

Colt Cabana Medical Update, Visit From “The Exalted One”

We see a very, very bruised up Colt Cabana on the medical table in the back of Daily’s Place. The medic is finishing up looking at him and heads out as “The Exalted One” of The Dark Order — Mr. Brodie Lee enters.

Mr. Brodie Lee says he doesn’t know who did this to Cabana but to get up and get ready, because they’ve got a match to get ready for. Cabana struggles to get up before simply replying, “Yes, Mr. Lee.” They exit as we head back inside Daily’s Place.

The Dark Order & Colt Cabana vs. SCU

The Dark Order — led by “The Exalted One” Mr. Brodie Lee and including the bruised up Colt “Boom-Boom” Cabana — makes their way down to the ring, as six-man tag-team action will be up next here at AEW FYTER FEST night two when we return.

On that note, we head to a pre-match commercial break as they wrap up their ring entrance.

When we return from the break, SoCal Uncensored make their way down to the ring as Scorpio Sky reunites with Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian for this six-man tag-team contest. The bell sounds and here we go. Representing The Dark Order will be Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana and Stu Grayson.

The match saw Scorpio carry the majority of the load for the SCU trio. When “The Exalted One” himself, Mr. Brodie Lee was actually in the ring during the match, he was dominant.

Cabana looked conflicted throughout the match, even going as far as to walk away from the ropes on a few occasions, but ultimately not only sticking around but taking orders from Mr. Brodie Lee. This leads to Cabana starting to work tandem moves with Lee, and even Grayson as well.

The finish comes when Cabana pulls Daniels off of a pin on Grayson while Lee is on the outside. Daniels gives him the “what’s wrong with you?!” scolding and they have a brief stare-down while Cabana contemplates what he’s done.

This allows Lee to sneak back into the ring and hit the big Stan Hansen-style lariat clothesline finishing move, which leads to Grayson getting up and tagging in Cabana, letting him get the pin to continue the story line that joining The Dark Order will continue to result in success for “Boom Boom.”

Winners: The Dark Order & Colt Cabana

AEW Fight For The Fallen Announcements

After the match, we shoot to ringside where the announce trio runs down some of the action on tap for next week’s special AEW Fight For The Fallen event, where All Elite Wrestling will look to raise money for victims of the COVID-19 pandemic. The show will feature the AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. FTW Champion Brian Cage main event.

Big Swole Confronts Dr. Britt Baker

Before we head to another commercial break, we see Dr. Britt Baker confronted by someone at ringside. Finally the cameras catch up with the action, which we hear the announcers reference, as we see it is Big Swole.

Swole, who apparently found a way to enter the building despite being banned, served legal papers and spotted arriving and leaving in a huff just minutes ago, and make it all the way through the extra COVID-19 security into the live amphitheater venue where the taping is taking (took) place, gets in Baker’s face, which she ultimately smashes as Baker screams in agony like a psycho as we finally head to break.

AEW FYTER FEST NIGHT 2 MAIN EVENT
“Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy vs. “Le Champion” Chris Jericho

We return from the break to the individual theme music of “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy, as ring announcer Justin Roberts does his comedy “from wherever, weighing whatever” introduction for the charismatic star.

Cassidy comes out accompanied by Trent and Chuck T. — The Best Friends — but stops them at the top of the entrance way, where he disrobes from his trademark jean jacket and t-shirt, before giving them a quick tap on the shoulders / semi Best Friends hug before they head to the back while he heads down to the ring with an intense look in his eyes, seemingly ready for battle.

From there, the very familiar (and very funky) theme of “Le Champion” plays as Chris Jericho comes out accompanied by members of his Inner Circle, including “Floyd” the baseball bat, which he enters the ring with while Orange Cassidy stands waiting outside the ring on the floor.

Jericho’s theme fades down and we hear some of the crowd still singing the “Judas in my Mind” lyrics, including a very enthusiastic Santana & Ortiz, who appear to be drinking some kind of juice out of a empty milk gallon.

Cassidy finally heads in the ring where the intense look is replaced with a cocky/confident one, in typical fashion, slumped over in the corner. The bell sounds and he and Jericho close in on each other. Cassidy slowly raises his hands and puts them in his pockets.

Jericho shoves Cassidy, who hits the ropes with his back while his hands are still in his pockets. Cassidy, however, then fires up on offense and knocks Jericho out to the floor. He splashes on him with a tope suicida through the ropes before following up by ramming him into the steel ring barricade.

He throws Jericho back in the ring before ascending the top-rope and catching “Le Champion” with a cross-body splash for a pin attempt. Jericho kicks out and takes over on offense, locking Cassidy in his Walls Of Jericho submission finisher seemingly out of nowhere. Cassidy eventually makes it to the ropes to force the hold to be broken. Jericho holds on a little long, which leads the ref to yell at him, during which Proud -N- Powerful (Santana & Ortiz) hit Cassidy with a cheap shot from the floor.

This leads to a prolonged beat down of Cassidy by Jericho, who gets a bit too cocky and smacks and pushes at Cassidy in very arrogant fashion. He mimes the Cassidy dramatic sunglasses-removal and other trademark “Freshly Squeezed” gestures as the fans inside Daily’s Place loudly boo “Le Champion.”

After we see Santana & Ortiz provide an assist by getting another cheap-shot in on behalf of the leader of the Inner Circle, we head to a mid-match commercial break. The conclusion of the AEW FYTER FEST Night Two main event is on the other side of tonight’s final commercial break.

We return from the break and the action immediately picks up and hits another level, as Cassidy fires up on offense and starts making his big comeback, complete with a hundred high spots and near falls, with several spots of interference by Santana and Ortiz and other members outside the ring.

Finally, The Best Friends — Chuck Taylor and Trent — see one interference too many and run out to make the save. This leads to all hell breaking loose, including “Le Champion” blasting Cassidy with Floyd — the baseball bat — for a near fall. He also hits the Codebreaker. Jericho covers Cassidy, 1-2…no!

Things escalate a bit more, with Cassidy getting in some more offense and near falls, only for things to eventually culminate with “Le Champion” pulling off the victory with his Judas Effect spinning elbow finisher, which as always, came out of nowhere. After catching the “Freshly Squeezed” one with the big shot, Jericho covers him and gets the 1-2-3 for the big victory.

Winner: Chris Jericho

AEW FYTER FEST Night Two Outro / Closing Notes

After the Jericho-Cassidy main event, AEW FYTER FEST Night Two goes off the air with Jericho and the Inner Circle members celebrating the main event victory by “Le Champion.”

J.R. thanks us for tuning in and reminds us to stop back by next week for the big AEW Fight For The Fallen special including the AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. FTW Champion Brian Cage main event.
